What are the advantages and disadvantages of living in Miami Beach?
I have 22 year old college student to complete his Master in Finance in April. I lived in Dearborn, Detroit neigboring over the past 17 years to my life. I want to go next summer. I heard two things about this place permanently. First, that crime is high. Now, I do not know how bad it is, but may not be as bad as Detroit. Second, is that Miami Beach is expensive. I looked at the price floors and is about 1250 per month Alamac bath apt for a double / double. Divide in half, not too bad. I'm worried about food and ordinary things. Are these expensive? How will the labor market? I have a degree in four years of experience in accounting and sales. Will it be difficult for me to find a job? Spanish East what is really needed? I'm tolerant of people who do not speak English, because I am an Arab-American and I am very open mind. THANK YOU MUCH ANSWERS If someone is for me!
I have 23 years and recently moved from Michigan (I lived in Sterling Heights) for the area Miami. At first, I lived in Miami Beach and did not. Since I moved in a nearby city (Sunny Isles Beach) and is not love. Believe me, Miami Beach could not be more different Dearborn! It will take much getting used to you. First, in Miami Beach, there are a lot of traffic. That gets old very soon! It is close restaurants, bars, beaches, and many shops. But grocery stores nearby are really small. You will have a long journey, if you go to any department store Wal-Mart or the mall. It is always hard as people are on holiday until 5:00 am (That's when the bars close.) I know where the Alamac and right is central to everything. This is great if you want to party and have fun, but if you want to sleep or relax, it will be annoying. On the other hand, Miami Beach is too expensive. In other areas, can get a better location for the same price. For example, I searched the room apartments / condominiums in Miami Beach for about $ 1,300 per month. The units were small with a view to evil. However, in Sunny Isles Beach, for the same price I could get a condo much, much bigger with sea view. The Crime is not bad. People say that about Miami Beach, but I have always felt safe. I think it's dangerous if you are involved in drugs. The food is expensive in restaurants and bars are expensive, much more than the Detroit area. However, things seem to the grocery store about the same. On the positive side of Miami Beach. There is many bars and clubs, a beautiful beach and lots of fun. You never get bored, and you can always return to your apartment when you get away club. However, everyone I know who moved to Miami Beach from another state, moved to another city about a year. Believe me, living in Miami Beach is old. I recommend living on the beach, but also farther north, Surfside, Sunny Isles Beach, Hallandale Beach, Hollywood Beach, etc. .. It is much more peaceful and quiet there. You can see where you can find work before deciding where to live. Trafficking in the region is terrible during rush hour can take a long time to get to work if they live far away. Mapquest directions and double or triple time, says it takes to get there. The job market is good. It is much easier to find a job in Michigan. Spanish is undoubtedly a plus, but do not think it necessary. I can not speak Spanish and I could not find a job. Some jobs need to be bilingual, especially those in which they work with the public. But not if you work in a company to deal with local customers, English is usually sufficient. The area is predominantly Hispanic, but nearly all speak English at least to some extent. Finally, let me say I like Miami too. The beaches are beautiful, the clubs are unbelievable, the weather is beautiful! Decide you decide, I can bet you will like much of Michigan. Good luck!
